Substrata Wines is a family microbusiness, owned and operated by brothers Benjamin & Tom Loudon. We import, distribute and retail low intervention wines from small independent producers.
We only work with people who grow their own grapes, without the use of systemic chemicals, and therefore have an active investment in the long term health of their soils.
We ship directly from five small estates – two in Barossa Valley, Australia; one in Saint-Chinian, the Languedoc, France; and two from interior Portugal – one from the Dão and one from Beira Baixa.
We started in 2019, after spending the 2018 harvest volunteering on organic vineyards in New Zealand and Australia, where we learnt that great wine begins underground.
Founded in 1698, Berry Bros. & Rudd is Britain’s oldest wine and spirits merchant. Family-owned and run, the company still trades from No.3 St James’s Street, with offices in Hong Kong, Tokyo and Singapore. With longstanding relationships with our producers, and a Royal Warrant, Berry Bros. & Rudd helps collectors of fine wines and spirits build, manage and enjoy their cellars.
Babylonstoren is one of the oldest Cape Dutch farms, dating back to 1692. It has a fruit and vegetable garden of beauty and diversity, unique accommodation, fine food and a sense of wellbeing. Our wines are produced in a state-of-the-art winery and are made to showcase the soils and climate where its grapes are grown. We have 88 hectares under vine and produce 13 different grape varieties with our highest vines – pinot noir and chardonnay – lying against Simonsberg at some 600 metres above sea level.
Our wines are best exemplified by the Babylonstoren logo, which consists of the pipe (representing the farmer), the flower (representing the garden) and the bird (representing nature). It is a combination of the very essence of Babylonstoren – keeping things simple and as true to the earth as possible. "It is this that we strive to achieve in our wine," says Charl Coetzee. "Truth to the area we are situated in on the slopes of Simonsberg, and simplicity by making elegant and balanced wines as natural as possible."
Luca Wine Limited is a small company, based in Pershore (Worcestershire) specialised in import of high-quality wines from Italy (mainly from Piedmont). Luca Wine can offer 90 types of wines (mostly organic certified). They are made by little winegrowers (family farmers), with passion and soul, in limited quantities. It offers a wide range of wines, less known denominations (Nizza, Roero, Dogliani, Derthona, Erbaluce, Gattinara and Faro) made from less known vine varieties (baratuciat, timorasso, nascetta, erbaluce, ruchè, pelaverga, freisa and grignolino) together with other famous vine varieties like barbera, dolcetto and nebbiolo.
The wines are recognized in several Italian Wine Guides and twelve of them have been awarded a bronze medal and three of them a silver medal by Decanter in the last two years. They are currently exported in USA, Canada, Japan, Germany, Norway, and other European countries.

RÍAS BAIXAS: THE HEARTLAND OF ALBARIÑO
D.O. Rías Baixas is widely acknowledged as the heartland of Spain’s most fashionable white grape variety, Albariño. 95% of all grapes grown here are Albariño grapes. Nestled up in the remote north west corner of Spain by the side of the Atlantic Ocean, Rías Baixas is also famous for its lush green landscape, steep terraced vineyards and granite ‘pergolas’, not to mention the cornucopia of fresh fish hauled daily out of the ocean just a stone’s throw away!
This is an area which is a far cry from the Spain of popular imagination, and as such remains a relatively undiscovered region to all but a few “in the know”. Yet the wine emanating from this delightful corner of Spain is certainly gaining recognition worldwide for its refreshing peach, elderflower, citrus and tropical fruit aromas and silken palate. Pope Valley Winery, founded in 1897 in the northeast of Napa Valley is one of the oldest wineries in the region. Berkshire Trout’s heritage dates from 1907 when the farm near Hungerford first started restocking rivers and fisheries with beautiful brown and rainbow trout across the country. We are In the Loop drinks, the UK's first English Vermouthery, based in Crowborough, East Sussex. We specialise in English Vermouth, showcasing English wine that we give new life to as Vermouth, keeping it IN THE LOOP.
We work with the wineries around us for the base wine, which we then fortify and flavour in house. Most of the botanicals we use we grow on site or forage for in the Ashdown forest, and we use them fresh, extracting a pure and vibrant flavour which we layer over some truly lovely base wines.

Grape Minds was formed in 2018 by two friends Graeme Woodward and Michael Jelley. Sharing a love of wine and a love of retail, their aim was to bring a great independent retailer to Oxfordshire, starting in their stomping ground of Summertown. 6 years on they have shops in Summertown and Wallingford, a big team of brilliant enthusiasts, and the large, stylish Summertown Wine Bar on the Banbury Road in Summertown which already feels like it’s been there forever. On the way, they have developed a reputation for sourcing superb wines from around the world, importing nearly half directly from wineries, while also developing their wholesale offering, free nationwide delivery and more to come.
