Babylonstoren is one of the oldest Cape Dutch farms, dating back to 1692. It has a fruit and vegetable garden of beauty and diversity, unique accommodation, fine food and a sense of wellbeing. Our wines are produced in a state-of-the-art winery and are made to showcase the soils and climate where its grapes are grown. We have 88 hectares under vine and produce 13 different grape varieties with our highest vines – pinot noir and chardonnay – lying against Simonsberg at some 600 metres above sea level.

Our wines are best exemplified by the Babylonstoren logo, which consists of the pipe (representing the farmer), the flower (representing the garden) and the bird (representing nature). It is a combination of the very essence of Babylonstoren – keeping things simple and as true to the earth as possible. "It is this that we strive to achieve in our wine," says Charl Coetzee. "Truth to the area we are situated in on the slopes of Simonsberg, and simplicity by making elegant and balanced wines as natural as possible."

The Wiston Estate has been owned and managed by the Goring family since 1743. Its 6,000 acres straddle the chalky slopes of the South Downs and the flat clay soils of the Weald. Since arriving in Sussex from South Africa in 1972, Pip Goring's dream was to plant vines at her new home, Wiston Estate. The first vines of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier were planted in 2006. Her great passion is the backbone behind Wiston's award-winning English Sparkling Wines.

Winemaker Dermot Sugrue works together with the team and his unwavering commitment to purity and expressing terroir has led wine legend, Steven Spurrier, to describe him as “the best winemaker in England.” Wiston Estate Winery has won “Winery of the Year” at the WineGB Awards in 2018 and 2020.

Te Mata logo no background.tif

Established in 1896, Te Mata Estate remains family-owned, producing internationally recognised wines exclusively from its Hawke’s Bay vineyards.

Hawke’s Bay is a very special place for making wine. Its range of slopes, plains and climatic differences, coupled with low humidity and ample ultra-violet light, give winemakers a comprehensive toolkit to showcase their skills. Soils are young and derived from the gravels, silt and sands left behind as the three main rivers of Hawke’s Bay changed course over thousands of years. Every step in the production of their wines is undertaken by the winery itself, from grape growing and pruning through to winemaking and bottling.  Over the last forty years Te Mata Estate has established an internationally-recognised array of red and white wines including Coleraine, Awatea, Bullnose Syrah, Elston Chardonnay, Cape Crest Sauvignon Blanc and Zara Viognier.

Today, Te Mata Estate is recognized as one of New Zealand’s most prestigious wine producers, making nearly 40,000 cases a year of premium wine and exporting to over 42 countries.

The Seifried story began in 1973 when Austrian born Hermann Seifried and his New Zealand wife Agnes had a dream of making wines in New Zealand’s sunshine capital - Nelson. From very small and modest beginnings when Hermann and Agnes grafted the vines late into the night, to today when all three Seifried children have returned home to play their part in growing the family business. Seifried Estate is a company devoted to sustainable winegrowing and producing the very best Nelson has to offer.

Nelson is located at the top of New Zealand’s South Island. It is one of the country's top holiday destinations with three national parks, fabulous golden sand beaches, alpine lakes, and surrounded on three sides by mountains; its beauty is hard to beat. Combine this with over 2,400 hours of sunshine every year, the diverse coastlines and native bush, the colourful array of creative characters in the region, and this adds up to a beautiful place to call home.

The wine industry in Nelson is tiny by international standards, however Nelson’s success is often envied. Winemaker’s efforts with Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir have shown that the region is capable of producing some of the finest wines in the world, gaining international recognition.

Pellegrino Logo.jpg

Cantine Pellegrino is one of Sicily’s most important and prosperous wineries. Today they are one of very few families who can trace their lineage back to the original 19th Century founders of the Marsala trade.

Our small estate of Podere Sant’Alberto is located 10 miles north of Siena, Tuscany, set in the foothills below Castellina in Chianti. The estate covers 12 hectares of vines, olive groves and mixed woodlands on a sloping terrain of clay with limestone deposits, at an elevation of 250 metres.

Italy is one of the leaders for organic vine growing since its climate makes such growing schemes relatively easy in most vintages. Our aim is to make both a natural wine and cold pressed extra virgin olive oil, taking fruit that is grown organically, then in the cellar adding nothing, while also not taking anything away.

Solaris Wines is a young wine company, looking to bring ‘different’ wines into the UK. Working with small producers we seek authenticity, points of difference and a clear quality/value relationship in the wines we select. To date this has taken us to producers in Spain, France, Italy, Germany, Slovenia and Romania. We continue to look for new partners and expect our portfolio to develop further as we find new opportunities to launch on our clients. Indeed this quest has taken us into the world of GIN as we have recently commenced working with the BROKEN BONES distillery in Slovenia. We intend to continue to provide ‘different’ and our portfolio will provide more opportunities for our clients to explore and enjoy new products. At this year's OXFORD WINE FESTIVAL we will be showing a range of wines from the Tilia Estate, Slovenia: Prince Stirbey, Romania: Bodegas Nabal, Ribera del Duero and Weingut Dr Crusius, Nahe, Germany.

We are a locally family run independent wine merchant, in business for nearly 45 years and with continuous wine trade experience of over 50 years.  We also trade under the name of Peter Osborne Fine Wines.

We specialise in offering quality wines that will suit your palate and your pocket from many European and ‘New World’ countries. Interesting wines that you are unlikely to see in the supermarkets. Enquire about our excellent selections from France, Italy, Portugal, Austria and Germany.  From the ‘New World’ we have exceptional selections from Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Chile and Argentina and mostly all exclusively shipped by ourselves!

White Castle Vineyard was established in 2008 by husband and wife team Robb and Nicola Merchant. The vineyard was established following the purchase of a field adjacent to the family’s small holding, which was itself purchased in 1993. It was then Nicola started to dream about planting  a vineyard. The first vines were planted in 2009 with further plantings in 2010 & 2019 taking the area to 2.25 ha now 7,000 vines.   Training in viticulture was gained at Plumpton College East Sussex.  The first harvest was in 2011 when White Castle gained Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) from Wine Standards, allowing its produce to be labelled Welsh Quality Wine.

The varieties now planted include Pinot Noir, Cabernet France, Regent, Rondo, Seyval Blanc, Phoenix, and Siegerrebe. This allows White Castle to produce a mix of red, white, rose, sparkling wines and their renowned “1581” Fortified Wines; with 60% of sales through their Cellar Door.  The grapes are handpicked and pressed on the same day at the Three Choirs winery in Newent. White Castle restored its Grade II* listed Croft Barn in 2015, which dates from the 16th Century.  This is now used for events at the vineyard.  As well as sales of wine from the vineyard shop,  tours and wine tastings with food are offered, The aim is to give the customer a full experience.

Chris & Tiffany Ruffle established Treaty Port Vineyards (www.treatyport.com) in 2004 and planted 18 hectares of vines imported from France in 2005 and 2007. Wine has been made in the old treaty port of 25 Chefoo (now called Yantai) since the early 20th century, but this is the first vineyard planted on the granite slopes of Qiushan. A number of winemakers have followed Treaty Port’s lead; Lafite has planted its first vineyard in Asia on a neighbouring plot. It has taken several years to work out the varietals and cultivation methods best suited to the climate and local taste. The full harrowing story can be read in “A Decent Bottle of Wine in China”, available on Amazon. Treaty Port wines are distributed through www.therealwineco.co.uk.

D.O. Rías Baixas is widely acknowledged as the heartland of Spain’s most fashionable white grape variety, Albariño.  95% of all grapes grown here are Albariño grapes. Nestled up in the remote north west corner of Spain by the side of the Atlantic Ocean, Rías Baixas is also famous for its lush green landscape, steep terraced vineyards and granite ‘pergolas’, not to mention the cornucopia of fresh fish hauled daily out of the ocean just a stone’s throw away!

This is an area which is a far cry from the Spain of popular imagination, and as such remains a relatively undiscovered region to all but a few “in the know”.  Yet the wine emanating from this delightful corner of Spain is certainly gaining recognition worldwide for its refreshing peach, elderflower, citrus and tropical fruit aromas and silken palate.

Join us to conduct your own mini-tasting from Rías Baixas: the heartland of Albariño
